Wakaŋ Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi: Healing with the Land
Honoring Dakota Homelands
Wakaŋ Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi is the new name for Lower Phalen Creek Project, an organization that grew from a grassroots environmental group into a Native-led cultural and environmental restoration organization that is re-indigenizing Dakota sacred sites and natural places on the East Side of St. Paul. Table Forte supports fundraising for their annual programs, capacity building, the final phases of the capital campaign for Wakan Tipi Center, and the initiative to daylight Lower Phalen Creek, which has been buried under the city of St. Paul for 100 years. Wakaŋ Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi’s mission is to engage people to honor and care for our natural places and the sacred sites and cultural value within them.
